Jinhae Gunhangje Cherry Blossom Festival
This was the first Cherry Blossom festival I attended in 2015. It was totally addictive & full of surreal moments. Traditional music was playing in the background, the smell of cherry blossom filled the air, the wooden bridge & green plants underneath gave a striking contrast to the pink Cherry Blossom flowers.
There are two venues at Jinhae to catch the blossom.
- Yeojwacheon Stream and Romance Bridge, as seen in the picture above
- Gyeonghwa Station (Cherry Blossom Road)
Both places have their own charm. While the bridge makes for a romantic place for the couples to stand, pose & click cozy pics, the train station takes the cake for riding amidst the cherry laden tree. The scenes are exceptional.

Make the best use of 2020 Korea Cherry Blossom Forecast
1.Plan a Photo Shoot
Since I first visited the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival, I decided to use it as a backdrop for a shoot. I am a huge ‘Yash Raj Movie’ buff. I simply love his interpretation of nature & romance. Inspired by that idea I happily adored a chiffon Saree for the shoot. The temperature was still low & I was wearing a winter jacket off Camera. As they say, anything for a good click. These are one of my favorite pictures from South Korea.
2. Go for tour bus
Believe me when I say that parking a ‘MAJOR’ problem during peak festival time. Although everything is systematic in Korea in terms of Traffic & parking yet due to the heavy influx of traffic you will face long queues & jams at times.
I have experienced both & was stuck in the traffic for hours. After a point, we just decided to park far away from the event place & walk all the way. It is not easy for you are carrying equipment or have small kids.
The best option to ditch the traffic blues is to take the tour buses. They are several tours operated during the festival season. These buses have designated parking spots, have a fixed schedule & also provide necessary passes & tickets if required.
3. Experience the Korean culture
Artists are performers come to these festivals & give live performances. Most of these performances are free. However, you may pay them if you like their performances & it is well appreciated. You can enjoy the performance by local singers, dancers, mimicry artists, painters, temporary tattoo artists.
They have booths for local Korean dresses that you can try for a photo op, caricature artists, locals selling hand made jewelry & other goodies. It is a great opportunity to mingle with locals, experience their culture & lifestyle.
4. Food tour
Initially, when I just shifted to South Korea I was skeptical about South Korean food. With all those meat & seafood, I didn’t know if I could ever like or taste it. it was in one of these spring festivals that I tasted the food. And I am a patron since. In fact, few of the dishes are on my favorite list ever since.
5. Make the bookings in Advance
Places to stay near the cherry blossom festivals get super expensive & crowded. Locals, Travelers, Photographers & traders gather at these places in huge numbers. Sometimes it is impossible to get a decent place near the event place.
If you are planning for a trip, make it a point to do all the bookings well in advance. There are a number of stay options available. I have linked some of the best places to stay above, you make check those for reference.
