“In Cleanliness lies the Godliness ” & so we believe . Visit any Indian middle class household ,atleast the living room would give you glittering image of cleanliness . The floor is so shiny that you can almost see your image , artifacts ( doesn’t matter if it procured from chor bazaar or actually bought from ‘Phorain’ as the host boost of ) the neatly kept sofa , the choicest of upholstery ( that fits the budget & better than the neighbor’s :) ) makes a perfect picture of ‘Ghar Ho Toh aaisa’ . And if you praise the house a little you would surely get special treatment . Shanta bai would be summoned & asked to prepare special ‘ Masala Tea’ & snacks . Meanwhile Saab & ma’am Saab would give you detailed description of each & every ‘Mehnga Samaan’ they posses . At the end you would be bound to say ‘Ghar Ho Toh aaisa’ .
How about the place just outside the house saab & maam sahab ? Well is it your concerrn at all ?
Shanta Bai , after finishing her daily chores pick up the garbage bag & dispose it on an empty plot nearby . Her duty is over .
When Saab goes out in the morning he buys a nice ‘banarasi pan ‘ on the way . He understands , keeping the fragrant aroma of paan to himself is a sin. So he dutifully sprinkle the juices of paan when ever & where ever he likes . This is called ‘Mouth publicity ‘ bhaisahaab ! Now 10 more people would be drawn towards the irresistible banarasi paan.
However Sahab would cringe on seeing the heaps of garbage & give choicest of ‘gaalis ‘ to the failed system of the country in case he get caught in the traffic or a holy ‘ Gai Mata’ (cow ) appears in front of him unannounced .
Reaching office on time is never possible you see . Damn the traffic & Gai Matas on the way . The day starts with a cup of hot tea & samosa . ” Ab kuch mood bana kaam ka ” is sahab’s thoughts . Thank god for that . And there goes the used disposable cup & plate outside the bin . Damn the office boy never keep the bin at arms distance .
On the way back home , Sahab suddenly stops the bike at roadside . Nature’s call , how can you ignore ? He looks around for a wall or a stone . Oh darn no public toilets or even a wall . what ‘aam adami’ would do ? Thank god for these wild bushes . We are not ‘Besharam’ you see . Sahab looks relieved !
Ma’am sahab is such a cleanliness freak . She doesn’t like even a trace of dirt inside the house . You don’t believe it ask Shanta bai or the pole just outside the house . ‘Bechara Bijali ka khamba’ is being turned into a garbage dumping place. Even Rahul Baba follow the cleanliness rules to the T . He survive on Kurkures & Lays & fizzy drinks. Dare he litter anything inside the house . Once the content of the packet is gulped down , it is immediately disposed at the ‘Bijali Ka khamba’ . Clean House happy Mom.
Rahul Baba is an obedient boy . Even while travelling he keeps the car spike & clean . Eat & simple stretch your hands out . Be it be rappers , groundnut shells , banana peels everything can be disposed so easily . There goes the Kachara outside the car. Ma’am Sahab looks at him with such a pride . ‘Mera beta kitna samjhdar hai ‘.
The family goes to malls , temples , parks every weekend . But never ever get their car dirty . The goods are consumed & left overs are disposed right away on the spot. When they come back loaded with shopping bags & packets of edibles they never forget to complain about how the place was so filthy , toilets stinky & roads full of garbage . They gorge on the pizza full of cheese & exotic toppings . Once they finish , Ma’am Sahab order Shanta Bai to clean up . She quietly picks up the litter & dispose it at the same old ‘Bijali Ka Khamba’ on her way home . Her duty is over & the house is Spike & Span as ever !
( Disclaimer – This is the story of each & ever household of India , well almost . If anyone feel offended its purely intentional. We have earned the tittle of ‘The Great Indian Litterbug’ the world over . So people keep littering until the earth can no longer bear the filth .At last we’ll have to move to MARS & start littering in the space . )
