Geoje Natural Art Land is a less explored art park. You will not find in many listing of places to visit in Geoje. However, It does worth a visit. If you have an interest in sculptures art, this place won’t disappoint you. It’s a good mix of natural & art exhibits. You can learn a lot about the local plants species, history & art.
This place is somewhat hidden & not advertised much. It is situated right across the ‘Swan Paddle boat’ arena. It is situated in Dongbu Reservoir in Dongbu-myeon. It can be a good weekend getaway option. Entertainment mixed with some knowledge is what I always look for!
Geoje Natural Art Land- entrance
This place is spread over an area of 15,000 sq mtr. It is divided into several areas, each exhibiting a different art form. The entrance of Geoje Natural Art land is quite humble. There are hardly any visible signs. We were welcomed by a gracious lady who seemed to be the caretaker. She furnished us the tickets & some candies with a smile. A good start of the tour I must say :)
As soon as I entered the area, it instantly reminded me of Rock Garden of Chandigarh. Although not as grand & skillfully done as in Chandigarh, yet this place deserves a visit.
Most of the stone sculptures are done without altering the natural shape. Most of them pretty much look the same. You need a keen eye to make out what actually they are meant to represent, a human form or something else?
The colors & textures of the stones are something to look out for.
Pardon my fantasy but when I walked past this aisle, I felt as if I was receiving the guard of honor :D
It makes a pretty sight for sure!

Stone Sculptures Gallery
This pond with hundreds of turtle sculptures caught my attention. The slow music, the sound of water & whole set up created a spell-binding moment.
Miniature Tree Exhibition
You will see hundreds of miniature/bonsai plants in these galleries. The only drawback of the place is that all the information is provided only in Korean.
It looked interesting. But I couldn’t make out what it was. There was no one to explain or direct. Once you enter the art land, you are on your own.
Orchid Green House
If you visit the place in right season, you might be able to see the seasonal bloom. All I saw was a couple was English roses & red berries. Hence Clicked :)
Wood Craft Exhibition Hall
Around 30-40 wooden sculptures are put together in this room. Nothing out of ordinary that might interest you. Take a quick look around & move on.
This hall has ancient artifacts mostly articles of daily utility.
Pond Of Fortune
As the name suggest, it’s a Pond of Fortune. Make a wish & throw a coin. I saw quite a few coins inside the pond. We humans have unlimited desires.Don’t we? :)
