Hakdong Black Pearl Pebble (or Mongdol in Korean) Beach in Geoje, South Korea is one of the most sought after beaches. It got its name because of its unique shape. It is shaped like a crane ( in Korean ‘Hak’) flying up in the sky. It is a small beach stretched to 1.2 Km & 50m wide.
Geoje island has many beautiful beaches. But Hakdong stands out because it has no sand, just smooth rounded Mongdols or pebbles. It is surrounded by Mt. Noja & Mt. Gara ( check them out if you love trekking)

When the waves hit these pebbles, it creates a unique sound. As you can’t do much here, why not sit & hear the relaxing sound of waves. I loved it :)
There aren’t much of activities around in this beach. But it is a good option for a weekend family outing. You can set up a camp if you are little adventurous.

My kids had a nice time collecting pebbles, shells & starfishes. My house has been virtually converted into a sea museum. Not that I am complaining :D
There are many Korean restaurants & food stalls near the beach serving Sashimi or raw fish & other Korean delicacies. If you do not know what to sample from the South Korean cuisine, read my post 10 Must Try South Korean Food. Hope It helps :)
