1. Tell us a little about yourself. We will love to know you more!
I am Rachit Bhushan,a resident doctor currently working in Apollo Hospital’s Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit.Beside this,I am a novelist with 3 published books that has received appreciation from international stars.I also own a media house named The Spark Times that aims at promoting talent globally.
2. Describe yourself in one line.
It is difficult to define myself in one a sentence but then I can say that ”I am an ordinary man with some extraordinary dreams, who believes in improving himself instead of proving himself”
3. You have a flourishing career as a doctor, What inspired you to be a writer?
Yes many people ask me this question. It was a tough call as both these fields demand immense amount of dedication and determination. I had never planned to become a writer but then it came to me when I lost someone dear to me the mere age of 23,my life went through lots of ups and downs and it dragged me to a phase where I was struggling in every department be it health, relationship or career. It was then that I decided to fight back, so that someday I can emerge as a winner. During this period of struggle, I found that there were many who were struggling like me but they used to easily surrender before their problems. Probably they had a feeling that giving up in life was the easiest solution. That was the day when I decided to pen down my story, so that people can go through it and realize that trying is always better than giving up and crying. I wanted to pass them a message that no problem in this world is stronger than their determination to achieve and excel. So this is how a doctor turned into writer. I wanted people to become a fighter through a writer.
4. What is your inspiration? How do you decide your subject?
It is quite a tough question to answer but then my failure acts as an inspiration to perform better.Everytime I fail in life,I think over it, as to where I went wrong. I go back into the past and search for the reasons of my failure. I note them down and try that I don’t repeat those mistakes again. Through this method, I keep improving myself. During this phase, I keep observing people who are going through a rough phase. I meet people who have gone through failures and later have emerged as winners. I read about people who were written off by the world and they bounced back in style. Through this process I I keep myself motivated..Once I convert my failure into success, I pen down my story so that next time if someone lands up into such a condition, he knows how and what he should do to come out as a winner.
About deciding my subject, anything that makes me feel that yes this is the story that has made me smile, it has made me cry, it has inspired me and has changed my views about life, I pick it up for my book without giving a second thought. I have a feeling that if a story can touch your heart, it will be loved by millions of other hearts too.
5. What has been your most enriching experience as a writer? Share it with our readers.
There have been many such incidences but one that I will remember all my life was the day when my debut novel was released in my school. It is always a dream a student to be a topper, but then I was never extraordinary. Not that I was poor in studies but probably I was always satisfied with the tag of an average. The day my novel got released, I was called on to the stage. When I started walking, some 5000 children sitting there started clapping. When I reached the stage, the name of my parents was announced as special guests for the occasion. I can never forget that moment when my parents walked up to the stage and everyone present inside the auditorium got up from their seats and kept clapping till they took their respective seats. This was the moment for which I had waited for 26 long years and when it came true, it left me speechless. So this was one moment that will stay in my heart forever as an author.
For me, writing is more of a responsibility instead of passion. I am a doctor but then it doesn’t mean that we cannot excel in other fields. If we have a vision, sincerity, determination and patience, we can make impossible look ordinary any day.
6. Is writing only a passion or have you considered it making a full-time profession?
I have not decided yet, but then I give 100 percent in whatever task I take up in life. For me, writing is more of a responsibility instead of passion. I am a doctor but then it doesn’t mean that we cannot excel in other fields. If we have a vision, sincerity, determination and patience, we can make impossible look ordinary any day.
7. What does it take to be a successful best-selling author? A good story or smart marketing strategy?
Well people say that you need celebrities and smart marketing strategies for your book to be a bestseller but I don’t feel so. I just know one thing, if you have written a book with honesty and utmost dedication, keeping in mind that it has some message for the society, nobody can stop it from turning into a bestseller.
8. What motivates you to chase your dream?
For me failure is the driving force. The fear of failure makes you successful,so that acts as a catalyst and keeps me motiovated in order to chase and achieve my dreams.
9. How has been your journey so far?
My journey so far has been tough with lots of ups and downs but then your life becomes boring if there are no problems associated with it.It has been a long journey and every moment I have fought with a belief that with every passing day I am getting closer to my goal.Yes it took a lot of hardwork, patience, dedication and determination to reach till here and all the credit for it goes to my family, teachers and friends who helped me,taught me and transformed me into a better human.
10. Who is your favorite writer & why?
I don’t have any favorite writer but then yes I respect books written DR APJ KALAM because it always teaches you something extra about life. It gives you strength, confidence and belief that things which you can’t do it today, nobody can do it better than you tomorrow.
11. What do you see yourself doing five years from now?
Well it quite difficult to comment on that now because I am still a beginner, who has to learn a lot but then if things go well, someday I would like to establish a cancer institute in my State, to help the people who are affected by fatal disease termed as cancer. It may take time but then nothing is impossible if you have the will to go for the kill.
12. If given a chance, what’s one change that you would like to see in this world & why?
Life that we have been blessed with,it is a kind of really beautiful,so I won’t like to change it much.If I am given the power to change something, then I would like to see a world where people are satisfied with whatever they have. The basic reason for all kinds of problems is expectation which arises because we are never satisfied with life.So if people are happy, that means they are satisfied and hence the miseries and sufferings will reduce.Rest I feel, life is really beautiful and we should never try to change it.
