Nirbhaya Case in 2013

Excerpts from the article published on September 13, 2013

Friday, 13th has never been a reason to feel good about it. It’s a cursed date, but no more. From today onwards, it will be remembered for the landmark judgment given by Additional session judge Yogesh Khanna.

“Besides discussing others offenses, I straightaway come to section 302 (murder) of IPC. This falls under the human nature of the convicts and the gravity of offense they committed cannot be tolerated. The death sentence is given to all the four convicts,” he said.

The offense, committed by Mukesh (26), Akshay Thakur (28), Pawan Gupta (19) and Vinay Sharma (20) falls under the rarest of rare category warranting capital punishment, the judge said.
Nirbhya case Delhi Rape Case 2012

It was the most gruesome, cruel, cold-blooded crime ever committed against a woman. Humanity cried, morals died on that very day. The whole nation was waiting for the verdict with bated breath. The judgment is significant in many ways. It upheld the faith of common man in law & justice. All four convicts deserved nothing less . Keeping in mind the nature of the crime, the death penalty is justified. If not all, it would at least deter some offenders to commit crimes against women.

It is shocking to know that the defense lawyer of one of the convict A P SINGH cried foul. Well MR. Singh, you can have your 5 minutes of fame but it is not going to earn you any brownie points. You shouldn’t have taken the case in the first place. Even if you did, challenging the decision in high court clearly shows that you have no sympathy for the victim, NIRBHAYA, or women folk at large. What were you thinking when you pleaded for mercy. Does that beast deserve even a trace of mercy? You should be ashamed of the actions you have put up & for the crocodile tears you have shed.

The families of convicts are in denial. The reaction was oblivious. In India, If a girl marries against the family’s will, she is disowned & humiliated or at times killed in the name of family honor. On the contrary, if a boy /man comes back home after committing the most inhuman crime, he is supported & protected by family members.  Mothers & sisters come out in full support. What a SHAME !!! It is one of the reasons that serial offenders get away so easily every time.

Some activists & countrymen are against death penalty reasons best known to them. I fully support the verdict for many reasons

  •  Some nut cases like the above four & one ‘juvenile’  can never be reformed.
  •  If such offenders are given lighter punishments, the fear of law & justice would diminish further.
  • A life sentence in our country is for a maximum of 25 years. The convicts, in this case, all are under 25. When they come out after serving the sentence, who is going to ensure that they wouldn’t commit any further crime & won’t be a nuisance for the society.
  • I, as an honest taxpayer, don’t want my hard-earned money to be wasted on such animals who have no heart or soul whatsoever. Hang them & get over with it. We already have our hands full with problems & issues.

Finally, justice is delivered in Nirbhaya Case. Don’t know whether to celebrate the victory or be saddened by rising crimes against women . When all said & done,  NIRBHAYA, may you rest in peace !!!

  1. Some criminals can never ever be reformed and I second your thoughts. No matter what the defense lawyers claim, the girl can never get back her life and her parents have lost everything. It is a heinous crime and I feel that they should be given life long imprisonment. I mean death penalty is easy death and they should be tortured. I feel like laughing when I see so-called human activists crying hoarse. Why they tell the same if a member of their family was raped? They are hypocrites gearing for fame. There is another idiot lawyer, M L Sharma and this man stinks.

    • I completely second your thought . Though human rights & some section of people call it a judicial murder , I prefer to call it pest control . Some simply don’t deserve mercy .

  2. Reblogged this on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (VK) and commented:
I just found this post while I was browsing Indivine at IndiBlogger. I think the author put it together well and there is not much I would want to add to what she already said. Therefore, I decided to reblog her post. I am not sure, but I think this is the first time that justice has been served so swiftly in Indian Judicial system. Maybe India is changing and maybe not, but in respect to this particular incident, I think justice has been served at least to an extent. I say, “to an extent” because the fifth monster is getting away because he is a “minor.” I try not to hate anything or anyone, but some acts are appalling no matter how much we try.
Hopefully, this judgement will come as an eye-opener to everyone who believes that they can violate a women and get away with it unscathed.

    • Thx for the reblog. Our law is bizarre. It has reduced the age of consent to 16 giving an easy escape to molesters. But it couldn’t bring “juvenile” to justice although he was the worst assaulter { juvenile 17 & half year …gimme a break} . What if all those involved in crime fell under this category ??. Three years of leisure stay at some reform home & than free for life time .

  3. Reblogged this on my india my government and commented:
Victory of Nirbhaya and law, long awaiting dicision is now on air. Real tribute to Nirbhaya.

  4. you are right . when a part of body gets infected & spreading poison , you don’t keep treating it & let it become a life threat , you cut it off and save rest of the body . Some criminals just don’t deserve a second chance.

  5. Justices done . These animals needs to be hung . I hope this will be done in near future . These animal like so called people will be hung with this kind of crime .

    • Punishment for such criminals is a lesson . There has to be 0 tolerance for such heinous crimes . We have been lenient long enough & see what has become of our society. Its good that our system is final waking up .
